About Bodo
Bodø occupies the scenic Bodø peninsula nestled between the Vestfjorden and the Saltfjorden, positioned just north of the Arctic Circle as the largest urban center in Nordland county and the second-largest town in Northern Norway. Operating primarily as a conventional port of call rather than a turnaround destination, the town welcomes cruise vessels directly near the downtown waterfront. Nature enthusiasts can also explore the coastal recreation area of Geitvågen, which provides a natural habitat for large populations of majestic white-tailed eagles, or visit the remarkably preserved historic trading post of Kjerringøy forty kilometers to the north. Summer visitors enjoy weeks of continuous daylight under the midnight sun from early June through mid-July, while open coastal exposure makes layered clothing essential for handling brisk sea winds coming off the water.
